Press Start race. Each line above becomes one marble.

Edit the list, then start. Every marble is identical, so the result is down to the pins.

Enter your runners and pick what they race as: rubber ducks on a river, horses on a track or cars on a road. Each entry gets its own lane with its name floating above, and the lead changes more often than you expect.

What is on the course

  • A slow zone early and late (weeds on the river, mud on the track, oil on the road) that drags every runner down and bunches the field.
  • A boost strip in the middle (rapids, a speed strip, a boost pad) that kicks the whole field forward and spreads it out again.
  • Random surges (TURBO) and slips (OOPS) that pop up over one runner at a time and shuffle the order.
  • A slow-motion run-in when the leaders reach the last stretch, so a close finish is easy to follow.

How the race stays fair

Every runner follows the same random process: a steady speed that drifts up and down, with surges and slips that hit each one at the same rate. Lanes are shuffled before each race, and slow zones and boost strips cover every lane over the same stretch. The duck, horse and car are only looks and change nothing. In 4,000 test races with eight runners, each entry and each lane won about as often as any other.

When to use it

  • Picking tonight's dinner from a short list, or a name from a team.
  • Choosing who does the dishes: switch the winner setting to the loser and that one gets the job.
  • Drawing an order for a game, taking each winner out and racing again.
